Q. Is this the same thing as a viatical settlement?

A. No. A viatical settlement is the sale of a life insurance policy or certificate issued on the life of a person who has a catastrophic or life threatening illness or condition that is likely to result in death within 84 months. A senior settlement is the sale of a life insurance policy or certificate that issued on senior with limited life expectancies of under 12 years.
