Q. How do life settlements work?

A. Most companies will ask you to complete an application and medical release forms so that they can gather information from your life insurance company and your doctors. All the information gathered must be kept confidential and cannot be given to anyone without your written approval. Offers will be based on how long you are expected to live, the amount you pay for your premiums, the rating of your insurance company, and your policy’s provisions (i.e. waiver of premium). It is highly recommended that you contact a financial advisor or licensed life insurance agent to assist you with the process.
