Banks Relax Use of Bad-Checks List to Vet Applicants

Banks are reigning in their use of ChexSystems, a
customer blacklist database that tracks those who mishandle
checking accounts, with Wells Fargo, Washington Mutual, and Bank
of America all recently agreeing to slow down their use of the
database. Eighty percent of bank branches in the country use
ChexSystems to review new customers' checking histories.
