Through a deal forged during a three-day WebTrust summit in Paris, AICPA now provides WebTrust, its Web site audit service, in Denmark, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, and Spain. The agreement, signed by those countries' accountancy institutes, now makes WebTrust available in 14 countries. Still pending are possible agreements in other European countries, as well as in countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Al Anderson, senior vice president of technical services at AICPA, said, "Internet businesses need a global standard that builds consumer confidence in electronic commerce and helps protect privacy while reducing the risk of online fraud."
