Fleet Bank Sued Over Credit Card
New York Times (10/10/00) Vol. 104, No. 40 p.C2; Bach, Deborah
A lawsuit has been filed against Fleet Bank by a
customer in Alaska. The suit, which seeks class-action status,
accuses the company of misleading consumers. Fleet allegedly
violated a pledge to charge a single fixed interest rate on Fleet
credit card balances. According to the suit, Fleet advertised a
7.99 percent annual rate then raised the rate to as high as 10.5
percent.
