XBRL.org, the year-old consortium spearheaded by AICPA,
is developing a standard for preparing and exchanging business
reports and financial data online. With representatives from 55
companies across the globe, the group hopes to have 100
international members by the end of the year. By that time, the
group anticipates that it will have made a formal launch of its
standard, XML, in Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore,
Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan.
The initial goal of XBRL.org is to offer the new XML framework
for businesses to create, exchange, and analyze financial
reporting information.
