Vacations Can Help Preview Retirement
Chicago Tribune (02/11/01) p.C14; Schnedler, Marcia
Baby boomers are likely to move after retirement to places
where they enjoyed vacations or business travel. Some baby boomers even
take pre-retirement trips to figure out where they would like to settle
down. Many developers of master-planned retirement communities offer
vacation packages that allow people to try out living in their towns.
Developers hope that such visits will change the minds of skeptics who
vow never to set foot in such communities. Some of the developers of
these communities are wiring houses and meeting places for cable,
high-speed access to the Internet and computing training centers. They
are also building in unexpected places, such as rural areas close to
major cities.
