New Jobs Available for Older Workers
Philadelphia Inquirer Online (05/21/01) Vol. 105, No. 20 p.4; Holcomb, Henry J.
Employment placement agencies claim that older workers forced
into early retirement are better able to find meaningful work if they
shed resentment toward previous employers and obtain or maintain
moderate computer skills. However, employers are often reluctant to
hire older workers because they fear age discrimination lawsuits if
employment has to be terminated. The Carney Group, an employment agency
for mature workers, claims that older workers are more dependable and
that there are not enough younger workers to fill all of the available
jobs.
