Slow Down, Educate Clients, Lynch Tells NAVA
National Underwriter (Life/Health) (10/23/00) Vol. 140, No. 43 p.3; Koco, Linda
In a recent speech at an annuity conference,
world-renowned financial analyst Peter Lynch said financial
advisers need to spend more time with their clients to educate
them and help them make good investment choices. He stressed
that choosing an investment is the responsibility of the client,
but clients need to know why they should have a specific fund,
and that is the responsibility of the planner. As for this
year's stock market volatility, Lynch said that it is to be
expected after so many years of growth. He added that if profits
continue to go up, the stock market will catch up.
