A proposal has been floated to allow Internet domain names ending in ".pro" for accredited professionals and their companies and associations. For example, a CPA's domain could end in ".cpa.pro", while doctors could have domains ending in ".med.pro" and attorneys could have domains ending in ".law.pro" under the plan. This new top-level domain would be administered by Registrypro.com, a joint venture of U.S.-based Register.com and the British company Virtual Internet.
